My Why
Heather Martin, also known as “The Chef Mommy,” is a multifaceted individual with a rich background and a passion for food, family, and music. Born in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Heather is the youngest of six siblings born to Rebecca and Louis Trotter. She found love and companionship in Dr. Colin Alex Martin, with whom she shares the joys of parenthood, raising four beautiful children: Colin Jr., Harper Lily, Clark Allen, and Charleston Avery.
Heather's academic journey led her to Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in English Education, laying the foundation for her love of language and communication. Furthering her dedication to education, she obtained a master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Kaplan University, a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.
Beyond academia, Heather's creative spirit found expression in music as a member of the acclaimed gospel trio Virtue. Their remarkable talent has earned them nominations for prestigious awards such as the Stellar, Dove, and Grammy Awards, with seven studio albums showcasing their vocal prowess and spiritual depth.
In 2016, Heather embarked on a new culinary adventure, launching the online platform Chef Mommy, dedicated to vegan and allergen-friendly cooking. Through her channel, she collaborates with renowned chefs and celebrities, advocating for allergy awareness and promoting healthy eating habits. Her efforts have touched countless lives, inspiring individuals to embrace nutritious and delicious meals.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Heather finds joy in various activities, including singing, writing, running, biking, and cherishing moments with her family. As a devoted dog mom to two golden doodles, Magic and Butter, she nurtures a love for animals and the simple joys of companionship.
